The Story Behind the Bowl
The tradition of pottery in Tunisia dates back to the centuries before the Roman Empire and continues to this day. In the ten years since this organization has been in existence, it has hired 90 people total, both men and women, at its Tunisian facility. Today, each piece is still hand-thrown and hand-painted like the old days. No decals, stencils or machinery is used for any aspect of the decoration - it's all done free-hand. Each time someone purchases one of these pieces, it helps ensure these artisans maintain the tradition of hand-painted ceramics in a positive, clean, and safe facility.
